Investigation Protocol and Definitions

 

The Kitsap County Special Assault Investigation Protocol

 
The purpose of the Kitsap County Special Assault Investigation Protocol is to set forth minimum standards and procedures to follow in the investigation of child death, child sexual and physical abuse and criminal neglect allegations, adult sexual abuse allegations and domestic violence, human trafficking, and crimes against vulnerable adults, including financial exploitation.

These protocol are not intended as legal authority for the admissibility or non- admissibility of evidence developed in the course of an investigation. These protocol should not be used as the basis for the dismissal of any criminal charges arising from a report of child death, child sexual or physical abuse or criminal neglect, adult sexual abuse or domestic violence, human trafficking, or crimes  against  vulnerable  adults,  including  financial  exploitation.  Similarly,  these  protocol should  not  be  used  as  the  basis  of  any  civil  claims  stemming  from  a  deviation  from  the guidelines set forth herein.

These protocol shall be reviewed on an annual basis, prior to the end of each calendar year by the board of Kitsap S.A.I.V.S (Special Assault Investigations and Victim’s Services). Any proposed changes will be submitted to the prosecuting attorney for approval and submission to the legislature.
